Men?s Tennis Travels to Citadel Fall Invitational

Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team returns to the courts on Friday, October 28 at 1 p.m. for the Citadel Fall Invitational at the Earle Tennis Center in Charleston, S.C. The Citadel, East Carolina, South Carolina State and Georgia Southern will compete at the three-day, flighted round-robin tournament.

This weekend's tournament will conclude the fall schedule for the Eagles, who have competed against the top players in the southeast during the past five weeks. Highlights include a doubles semifinal run by Oliver Webb (London, England) and Andrew Dromsky (Martinez, Ga.) at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships and a runner-up finish at the Elon Invitational by Alain Garrido (Vigo, Spain) and Kyle Hoffman (Sarasota, Fla.) in 'B' Doubles.

Garrido and Hoffman advanced to the Round of 16 a week ago at the ITA Regional Championship, where junior Matthijs Verdam (Hilversum, The Netherlands) defeated Georgia's Will Reynolds before falling in a three-set battle against nationally ranked Bob van Overbeek of Florida.

'We've put in a lot of hard work this fall and we've had individuals come up with some good performances, but I don't think we've had a weekend yet where everyone has performed well," said Head Coach Nick Zieziula. "This is our last competition for the fall, so I'm looking for a complete team effort to end our fall competition on a high note."

"In singles, we've been focusing on staying more aggressive," said Zieziula. "When we take control of the court we play much better. On the doubles side we want to keep our energy high and be relentlessly positive. If we can maintain both of those things than we're going to give ourselves good opportunities at the end of each set."
