Eagle Men's Tennis Travels for Elon Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Tennis travels this weekend to the Elon Invitational in Elon, N.C. The Eagles will take to the court against big names such as Duke, NC State, Wake Forest and East Carolina as well as league foes, UNC Greensboro and Elon. The flighted competition allows Georgia Southern to compete in singles, as well as doubles.

"We're going to have a good opportunity this weekend to see some conference teams up at Elon," said Head Coach Nick Zieziula. "It's a strong field we will be facing this weekend and it will be a good test of our programs' progress. We're going to try a couple of different doubles partnerships, and I'm excited to see how they play together."

Matthijs Verdam (Hilversum, The Netherlands) gets the No. 2 seed Rafael Paez from NC State in the first round of the A1 Singles draw, while Alain Garrido (Vigo, Spain) gets Coastal Carolina's Leo Christofides to open the A2 Singles draw. Eagles Albert Codina Sala (Manresa, Spain) and Kyle Hoffman (Sarasota, Fla.) are at opposite sides of the B1 Singles draw with Sala facing UNC Wilmington's Kjellberg and Hoffman drawing Wake Forest's Conner Sherwood.

In the B2 Singles draw, freshman Andrew Dromsky (Martinez, Ga.) faces Campbell's Ondrej Kralik in the first round. In C Singles, junior Sebastien Felt (Vienna, Austria) gets an early league test against UNC Greensboro's Jimmy Roueche to open play.

Georgia Southern enters two doubles pairs in the A2 Doubles draw at opposite ends of the ladder. Garrido and Hoffman take on East Carolina's John Schmitt and Mario Martinez in the quarterfinals, while Verdam and Dromsky open against Radford's Igor Orgizek and Joe Mills. The Eagles' third doubles partnership faces Campbell's duo of James Jones and Landon Rogers to open the B2 Doubles ladder.
