Men's Tennis Ready for Two Conference Matches

VIDEO: Preview Interview with Coach Nick Zieziula

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Georgia Southern Men's Tennis will be having Charleston on their minds for the next couple days. The Eagles head to Chucktown to meet the Citadel on Saturday at 1 p.m. before returning home to face College of Charleston on Monday at 2 p.m.

"We've had some great preparation in our non-conference schedule and we're excited to get back to compete against our conference teams and to show how much we've grown since last year," said Head Coach Nick Zieziula.

The Eagles (5-4, 1-0 SoCon) have won two out of their last three matches including an important conference victory over Wofford. Their last match played was a 5-2 loss in a neutral site match against Lousiana at Lafayette in Atlanta. Freshman Rayane Djouad picked up his team leading sixth singles win of the year and now stands 6-1 overall. Junior Marco Osorio also picked up a win for the Eagles, his second consecutive singles victory.

The Citadel is a familiar foe as the Eagles have competed against them in fall competition on multiple occasions. The Bulldogs are 5-5 on the year and have yet to win a conference game.

"We've got good match notes to look back on and be sure that we got our game plans set for each court. They've got very feisty competitors but i feel like if we can stick with our game plans and play them the right way we can take care of business very efficiently," Zieziula said.

College of Charleston currently stands 4-6 on the year and has won its last two conference matches against Furman and Appalachian State.

"They're always a very strong team. We know we can't take them lightly at all. They're always at the top of the conference. They battle hard and it's going to be a very, very good match here," Zieziula concluded.

The Eagles continue conference play Friday and Saturday, March 22-23 in North Carolina against App State and Davidson before returning home again for a conference match-up with Furman on Tuesday, March 26 at the Hanner Tennis Complex.
