Nkoueleue Tabbed SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern’s lone senior Emmanuel Nkoueleue (Douala, Cameroon) was named the men’s tennis Southern Conference Player of the Week for his performance on the courts this past weekend against Presbyterian and Florida Atlantic.

Nkoueleue has been instrumental in Georgia Southern’s matches this season playing from the No. 1 singles and doubles positions.

Nkoueleue becomes the first GSU men’s tennis player to earn the Player of the Week award this season, going undefeated in singles and doubles this past weekend. He defeated Presbyterian’s Matt Martin in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 and downed Florida Atlantic’s Olivier Sajour 6-3, 6-3. Sajour was previously ranked No. 56 nationally. It was Nkoueleue's second victory over a ranked opponent this season. Nkoueleue teamed with Borja Malet (Barcelona, Spain) in doubles on Saturday ousting Presbyterian’s tandem of Martin and Andrew Lee by a score of 8-3. Nkoueleue and Malet defeated Florida Atlantic’s duo of Marc Abdelnour and Joe Cadogan by an 8-4 decision.

Nkoueleue is 16-5 overall in singles and 12-5 in doubles. He is 6-1 in both singles and doubles in duals.

Georgia Southern (3-4) is back in action Saturday, March 1, as they play host to SoCon opponent Wofford. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
