Men?s Soccer Falls to the College of Charleston 2-1

Charleston, S.C. – The Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer Team lost 2-1 Tuesday night in Charleston, S.C.

 

The Cougars started the scoring in the 30th minute. John Bello knocked in a ball that deflected off of a Georgia Southern defender.

 

The Eagles quickly responded and tied the match in the 33rd minute of play. B.J. Reine (Baton Rouge, La.) scored his second goal of the season off of a cross from Jon Cox (Alpharetta, Ga.).

 

Reine finished the match with two shots on goal and a goal scored.

 

Mike Gubosh (Evans, Ga.) made a save with five seconds to go in the first half to deny Jedd Cordisco.

 

Georgia Southern headed in a ball into its own net to give the College of Charleston a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute.

 

The Eagles outshot the Cougars by a margin of 10 to six and took five shots to one in the second half.

 

Jon Kinsler (Ormand Beach, Fla.) had the Eagles' last chance with a shot on goal in the 86th minute.

 

The Eagles fall to 3-7-0 and 1-3-0 in Southern Conference play, while the Cougars improve to 8-5-0 and 2-2-0 in the conference.

 

The Eagles return home to face Gardner-Webb at Eagle Field on Friday at 1 pm.
