Men?s Soccer Team Will Face Appalachian State and College of Charleston in Conference Play this Week

Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer Team is set to face Appalachian State and the College of Charleston in this week’s conference play.

 

The Eagles are 2-6-0 (0-2-0) after losing last week’s conference matches against Elon and Furman.

 

The Georgia Southern defense has allowed the second fewest goals in the conference.

 

Appalachian State is 7-4-0 (2-1-0) on the season and is in third place in the SoCon.

 

The Mountaineers attack is led by Antonio Harley and Sean Dreybus. They both have scored three goals on the season.

 

Collin Taylor and the Appalachian State defense have allowed the fewest goals in the conference.

 

Georgia Southern and Appalachian State have met 22 times. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series with a 12-10 record, but the Eagles have won the last two meetings and won six straight matches from 1995-98.

 

The Appalachian State match is scheduled for Sunday at 1 pm in Boone, N.C.

 

College of Charleston is 7-4-0 (1-1-0) this season and has scored the second most goals in the conference.

 

Kareem Yearwood and Matt Morris lead the Cougar attack with five goals scored each.

 

The defense has recorded five shutouts this season which leads the conference.

 

The Cougars have dominated the all-time series against Georgia Southern and have a 14-1-1 record against the Eagles. Georgia Southern’s lone win came back in 1986 when the Eagles defeated the College of Charleston 3-0.

 

The College of Charleston match is set for 6 pm Tuesday in Charleston, S.C.
