Men's Soccer Plays First of Five Matches on the Road Tuesday
STATESBORO, Ga. - On the road for the next five matches, the Georgia Southern Men's Soccer team travels first to Presbyterian College to face the Blue Hose in a Tuesday 6 p.m. contest. The Eagles play this non-conference match and then will face the College of Charleston for a Southern Conference tilt in Charleston on Saturday.
Both Presbyterian College (1-8-1) and Georgia Southern (3-6-1) have battled in the 2010 season as the Blue Hose have had five matches decided by a single goal while the Eagles have had seven.
Leading the scoring for Georgia Southern this season are forwards Jon Cox (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Ethan LePan (Martinez, Ga.), each with three goals and two assists on the year. Three other Eagles have two goals apiece. Neal Bates and LePlatt have split time in the goal with Ryan Platt (Preston, England) earning seven starts and Neal Bates (Watkinsville, Ga.) three.
Logan Huff and Stephen Glover are the top scorers for the Blue Hose, each with two goals. Presbyterian College has utilized three goalies so far this year with William Redmond, James Neal and Andrew Wallingford seeing time in the net. The Blue Hose opened the 2010 season with a 2-1 overtime win over SoCon member Furman and share five other common opponents with the Eagles.
Tuesday's match will mark only the third meeting between Presbyterian College and Georgia Southern with each team holding a win in the series. The two teams last played more than two decades ago with the Eagles taking a 4-1 win in Statesboro in 1987.
