Men?s Soccer Prepares for Non-Conference Foe Gardner-Webb
Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer Team is preparing to face non-conference foe Gardner-Webb Friday at 1 p.m. at Eagle Field.
The Eagles (3-7-0, 1-3-0) split last week’s conference slate by beating Appalachian State 2-1 and losing to the College of Charleston 2-1.
Daniel Smith (Marietta, Ga.) ranks sixth in points per game and fifth in goals per game in the conference.
Georgia Southern ranks fourth in shots, points and goals in conference games.
B.J. Reine (Baton Rouge, La.) ranks fourth in goals per game in conference matches.
The Eagles look to improve their home record from 1-4-0 to 2-4-0 with Friday's match.
Gardner-Webb is 3-6-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the Big South. The Bulldogs are 0-3-0 on the road this season.
Georgia Southern and Gardner-Webb have faced off three times in the past and the Bulldogs lead the all-time series 2-1. The Eagles won the latest match in 2006 4-3.
Georgia Southern and The Bulldogs have four opponents in common this season. Both teams have faced Jacksonville, North Florida, Appalachian State and USC Upstate.
The Eagles lost to Jacksonville 2-0 (9/21), while the Bulldogs lost 3-2 (9/5). Gardner-Webb lost in overtime 3-2 to North Florida (9/7) and Georgia Southern lost 1-0 (9/17). The Eagles defeated Appalachian State 2-1 on Sunday, while the Bulldogs lost 1-0 in the second overtime. USC Upstate lost to both Georgia Southern and Gardner-Webb this year.
The Bulldogs are lead on offense by Bradley Morrison. He leads the team in goals scored (4) and shots on goal (9).
Dane Geraci has started seven matches in goal for Gardner-Webb and has made 31 saves this season.
The Eagles will face Gardner-Webb Friday at 1 pm at Eagle Field.
