Men’s Soccer Earns Postseason SoCon Awards

STATESBORO, GA. Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer picked up five postseason SoCon awards on Tuesday when the league announced its 2012 Men’s Soccer honors list. Hunter Norton and Drew Ruggles were both named to the second team All-SoCon while Rocco Bagley, Eric Dinka and Reed Norton were selected to the All-Freshman team by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Hunter Norton finished the regular season with three goals and two assists in the center of the midfield for the Eagles. Ruggles was a stalwart in defense for Southern, scoring three goals with four assists to rank second on the team with 10 points.

On the All-Freshman team, Reed Norton led the Eagles this year with five goals. He netted his fifth of the year against UNCG with a penalty kick that forced overtime. Bagley scored two goals this year while Dinka had one goal this year.

The Eagles are back in action on Thursday night against No. 1 seeded Elon in the semifinals of the 2012 SoCon Men’s Soccer Tournament. The match begins at 5 p.m. from the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
