Eagles Conclude Competition at Jerry Pate Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Georgia Southern men’s golf team concluded competition at the Jerry Pate National Invitational, Tuesday afternoon, carding an 18-over 870 at the par-71, 6,958-yard Old Overton Country Club.

 

Freshman Logan Blondell (Lakeland, Fla.) and junior Ryan Zabroske (Alpharetta, Ga.) each carded a team-low 1-under 70 in the third and final round.  Blondell finished tied for 31st place carding a 1-over 214, while Zabroske finished one stroke behind tied for 37th place with a 2-over 215 score.  Zabroske’s third round score is a career-low, while both Blondell and Zabroske notched new career lows in 54 holes of competition.

 

All five Eagles improved their scores from round one to round two in the two-day tournament, while three more had their best rounds in the third and final outing.

 

The host school – Alabama, hoping to defend the tournament title – garnered the team win over 11 other schools in record-setting fashion, carding a tournament low 42-under 810.  The Tide’s Mark Harrell and East Tennessee States’s Seamus Power shared the individual title, shooting a 15-under 198.

 

Next up, the Eagles will host the Mizuno Southbridge Intercollegiate to be played at the Southbridge Golf Club in Savannah, Ga., Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 15-16.
