Second Round Action at NCAA Championship Completed
Florida State now holds sole possession of first following a 9-under par 279 second round performance for a 14-under 562 two-round total. Oklahoma State, after a 4-under day, stands in second at 567 (-9). Georgia Tech and Augusta State complete the sub-par scoring with 4-under and 1-under scores for third and fourth place. Florida and San Diego are tied for fifth at even-par 576, while Washington and Clemson are tied for seventh at 1-over 577 to round out the top eight teams. The Eagles currently sit in 28th place at 20-over 596.
Spence Fulford (Rocky Mount, N.C.) resumed play and finished a 2-over 74 round. Fulford recorded three birdies over the 18 holes and manufactured the round with a 1-under front nine combined with a 3-over back nine. The senior sits in a tie for 40th with one round to play.
Logan Blondell (Lakeland, Fla.) sat at 1-over through 13 holes before play was suspended. The junior made bogey on five before four consecutive pars closed out the 2-over 74 round. Blondell is currently tied for 67th.
Ryan Zabroske (Alpharetta, Ga.) moved to 4-over following a birdie on the fifth hole and par on the sixth, where he finished the day on Wednesday. Zabroske made par on the final three holes Thursday morning to cap his second round 4-over 76. The Eagle stands tied for 122nd entering the final round.
Senior Matt Deal (Statesboro, Ga.) moved into a tie for 131st after posting a 3-over 75 second round. At one point early in the round, Deal dipped to 2-under with a pair of birdies on 12 and 14, but four late bogeys on the back nine left the senior 3-over.
Florian Sander (Bregenz, Austria) closed round two with a 7-over 79 and stands tied for 140th.
Georgia Southern will be paired with TCU and Penn State for the final round of stroke play. The Eagles will be the first group to tee off on the back nine.
