Schenkel Invitational Media Day held at Forest Heights Country Club
Schenkel Committee Chairman Wes Brunn took a few moments this afternoon to talk about the partnership between Statesboro/Bulloch County and Georgia Southern. Eagle golfer Lewis Gruber is playing in his final Schenkel Invitational this year while freshman Scott Wolfes is playing in his first. Larry Mays, in his 12th season as head coach of the Georgia Southern program, is looking forward to his squad having a "home field" advantage and the support from the community.
Georgia Southern welcomes Alabama Birmingham, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Notre Dame, N.C. State, North Florida, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Virginia as the teams will arrive in Statesboro next Wednesday with the practice day on Thursday. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to come out to Forest Heights and watch not only the Eagles, but the field that includes teams and individuals ranked in Golf Week's national top 50.
