Ryan LeFevre Leads Eagles After Round 1 at Landfall

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wind and colder temperatures factored into day one for Georgia Southern Golf at the Landfall Tradition, played on the Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. The Eagles shot 314, just six strokes back of second place.

Round two will start Saturday morning (Oct. 25) with the final 18 holes set for Sunday.

Iowa jumped out to an early lead, shooting 286 to take a 22-stroke lead after the first round. Tulsa shot a 308, and only nine strokes separate the Golden Hurricanes (currently in second) and Wisconsin in 11th place.

“The wind blew constantly 20-30 mph all day long. The greens were set up fast and hard, so between that and the wind they played really tough,” said head coach Larry Mays. “I thought we hit the ball well, we just didn’t get the scores. Our guys are in good spirits, we’re only six out of second place overall. Hopefully we can go out play well and get a good finish.”

Senior Ryan LeFevre carded a 3-over 75, tied for ninth individually. Sophomore Logan Blondell was one stroke behind, tied for 17th.

Jordan Johnstun shot 81 and Drew Lethem finished with an 82, tying for 38th and 42nd, respectively. Spencer Fulford tied for 47th overall with an 84.
