Golf Plays at Mason Rudolph Championship This Weekend
STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern golf team will return to action at the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt at the Legends Club, this weekend.
The Eagles tee off at 8 a.m. Friday with Caleb Morris leading things off for Georgia Southern. Henry Mabbett, Hayden Anderson, Charlie Martin, Scott Wolfes and Christian Humber will also compete for Georgia Southern this weekend.
The Eagles tied for 11th in their opening tournament after battling the tough Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, site of the 2012 PGA Championship, for three days. Wolfes placed first, becoming the first GSU golfer to win a tournament since Logan Blondell won the Kauai Collegiate Cup in 2009. He shot a 67 on the second day to open a 3-stroke lead and key the win.
Mabbett, who played as an individual, tied for 44th with three consecutive 79s. Morris posted a scoring average of 79.67, and Charlie Martin averaged an 80. Hayden Anderson averaged 79.50 strokes in two rounds of action. A junior transfer from Central Alabama Community College, Humber will be making his debut for the Eagles.
Arkansas State, College of Charleston, Davidson, Georgia State, East Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee State, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Rice, South Alabama, Tennessee Tech, Vanderbilt and Virginia make up the rest of the field for the tournament.
