Football Signing Day Events Set for February 2nd
STATESBORO, Ga. - Eagle fans can follow the progress of National Signing Day 2011 on Wednesday, February 2nd, and see which prospects have been offered the opportunity to wear the Blue and White. Georgia Southern Head Football Coach Jeff Monken will unveil his second signing class at 3 p.m. that afternoon. Online coverage of Georgia Southern signing day begins at 9 a.m. and on the radio at 2:30 p.m. GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com will provide interviews with Eagle coaches and exclusive National Letter of Intent arrival confirmation.
Georgia Southern will update the list of signees throughout the day on GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com. As the National Letters of Intent are certified, names of the signees will be posted at twitter.com/GSAthletics and profiles and highlight videos will be made available online at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com. Coach Monken will announce the 2011 signees at the official press conference at the Parrish Football Center at 3 p.m.
The "Voice of the Eagles" Chris Blair and game day sideline reporter Ryan Chambers will broadcast the "2011 Georgia Southern Signing Day" radio program live from the Parrish Center beginning at 2:30 p.m. The show will be available in Statesboro on the flagship station of the Georgia Southern Radio Network, Fox Sports 106.5 FM and GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com/Eaglevision.
Both the press conference and the signing day radio show will be available globally on Eagle Vision.
Later in the day, Coach Monken and the Eagle Football coaching staff will convene at Locos Grill and Pub in Statesboro for Georgia Southern's annual Signing Day Celebration. The hour-long program will begin at 7 p.m. with Blair serving as host of the event again this year. After a brief overview of Georgia Southern's 2011 signing class, Monken will review the profiles of newest members of the Eagle Football program. Video highlights of signees will be shown on the big screen TV during the commentary.
There is no admission fee for the Signing Day celebration event and the full Locos menu will be available to order. Seating is limited in the lounge area, so fans are encouraged to arrive early. Locos Grill and Pub is located at 91 Briarwood Road, near the intersection of Fair Road (Ga. Hwy. 67) and Veterans Memorial Parkway (U.S. 301 Bypass) in Statesboro.
Due to NCAA rules, prospective recruits (ninth grade and up as well as individuals enrolled at two-year schools), signees and family members of prospects or signees are not permitted to attend this event.
