Coach Hatcher Presides Over 'Football Kickoff' August 1 in Statesboro

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Athletics, Harveys Supermarket and Coca-Cola have teamed up for the second annual ‘Football Kickoff’ Saturday, August 1st from 1-3 p.m. at the Harveys Supermarket location on Fair Road in Statesboro. Coach Chris Hatcher, the Georgia Southern Cheerleaders and everyone’s favorite mascot, GUS, will help get fans in the spirit for the 2009 football season.

From 1-2 p.m. Eagle Fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet Coach Hatcher, get autographs and take photographs. Schedule cards for the Eagles football and volleyball teams will be available and Coca-Cola product samples provided to fans for free. Football season ticket orders will be accepted on site and representatives will be on hand to answer questions about ticket plan options and packages.

“Last year was the first time we hosted such an event and it was very well received and this year we are expecting an even bigger more turnout,” said Brent Jones, director of Eagle Sports Marketing. “I cannot thank Harveys Supermarket and Coca- Cola enough for wanting to continue the event and for being such gracious hosts.”

Later that same day, at 7:30 p.m., Coach Hatcher and Chris Blair, 'Voice of the Eagles', will chat with fans at Chili's Grill and Bar. Chili's Grill and Bar is located on Commerce Drive off the bypass in Statesboro next to the new Holiday Inn.
