Stanley Earns Second Freshman of the Week Award
STATESBORO, Ga. - Deion Stanley recorded a career-best 13 tackles to help Georgia Southern stave off The Citadel 14-12 Saturday and was rewarded with his second Southern Conference Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, November 7th.
The Dry Branch, Ga., native tallied 11 solo tackles and assisted on two others to help the Eagle defense hold the Bulldogs to their second lowest scoring output of the year. Stanley also blocked one of two extra points that proved the difference in a two-point victory.
The win helped position the Eagles for a showdown between a pair of one-loss conference teams in Spartanburg, S.C., on Saturday. GSU travels to Wofford for a 1 p.m. contest with the SoCon Title in the balance.
