Eagle Football Ranked in Preseason Polls

STATESBORO, Ga. – Three preseason publications have ranked Georgia Southern Football among the ‘Top 25’ heading into the 2009 campaign.

The Eagles were ranked 20th nationally by Lindy’s and Sporting News while receiving a number 24 ranking in Athlon. Georgia Southern returns 17 starters (seven offense, seven defense, three special teams) and 44 letterwinners from last year’s 6-5 team.

Also listed on the ‘Top 25’ polls are 2009 opponents (listed by Athlon/Lindy’s/Sporting News): Appalachian State (1st/1st/2nd); South Dakota State (NR/11th/NR); Wofford (10th/18th/NR); Elon (14th/8th/14th) and Samford (NR/NR/23rd).
