Football Video Staff Earned Runner-Up Honors at CSVA

STATESBORO, Ga. -Georgia Southern Football Video Coordinator Matthew Hammock and his staff earned second-place honors for their highlight video at the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) Awards Ceremony in Denver, Colo., last month. The award was given for SAVVY highlight of the year, honoring the best motivational highlight films of the year. Hammock's assistant on the video was Corey O'Quinn.

Hammock received the award for the outstanding highlight video for the Savannah State game week. Judges voted the video package into the final round where members of the association voted the highlight second place overall.

"Matt and Corey are vital to the success of our football program," said Coach Jeff Monken. "They invest countless hours at all times of the day to make certain our staff and team have the teaching and learning tools they need. I am so proud of them for being recognized for their efforts and the tremendous work they do. Their award is a source of pride for our entire football program."

The videos are judged for the SAVVY video of the year award and for two other categories, motivation and recruiting. The CSVA awards ceremony recognizes the winning videos. Georgia Southern was selected as a finalist with Central Florida, Florida State, Kansas State and Stanford.

"It is a great honor to be in the same sentence as the other schools," said Hammock.

Hammock was an assistant video coordinator prior to taking over video coordinator responsibilities for the 2010 season. Hammock and O'Quinn provide a motivational highlight video for the football team to view before each game. Along with daily duties that include filming of practice and breaking down film, the duo produces the weekly video in three short days.
