Hanks Earns Weekly SoCon Honor

STATESBORO, Ga. - After notching the game-winning field goal Saturday, true freshman Alex Hanks was named the Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week Monday.

After four lead changes and two ties in the second half, Hanks put Georgia Southern on top for good with a 32-yard field goal with 3:40 remaining in the game to lift the Eagles past Elon.

In his first career start, the Marietta, Ga., native also booted a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter to put GSU up 16-13 and notched a pair of extra points.
