SoCon Coaches Pick Men?s Basketball Second in South

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Georgia Southern men’s basketball team has been picked second in the South in the Southern Conference Coaches’ Preseason Poll the league announced Tuesday.

The Eagles’ Louis Graham (West Palm Beach, Fla.) was also tabbed to the All-Conference team.

GSU, who received 48 points, is slotted behind defending league champion Davidson, who garnered 10 of 11 first-place votes and 60 points. The College of Charleston (43 pts) was third, followed by Wofford (35), Furman (24) and The Citadel (15).

UNC Greensboro earned 60 points and 10 first-place votes to lead the North Division. Appalachian State received the remaining first-place nod and 47 points, followed by Western Carolina (42), Chattanooga (35) and Elon (26).

Graham earns a preseason nod for the second straight season. He is the team’s top returning scorer and rebounder with 14.5 points and 8.2 boards per game. He enters the season as the school’s active leader in points and rebounds and holds the Georgia Southern career record for blocks with 153.

Davidson’s Stephen Curry, who averaged 21.5 ppg last season, was picked the conference’s Player of the Year.
