Men’s Basketball Hosts Wofford for 2013 White Out

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball enters the home stretch of the 2012-13 regular season on Thursday night at the friendly confines against Wofford. The Eagles open the final homestand of the season at 7 p.m. on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night as all fans are encouraged to wear white for the SoCon Contest.

Georgia Southern (11-16, 5-9 SoCon) enters the final four games of the 2012-13 regular season with a pair of contests against their closest competitors for third place in the SoCon South Division. The Eagles lead Wofford (5-10) by a half game for third place and hold a two-game lead on Saturday’s opponent, Furman (3-11).

All fans are encouraged to wear white on Thursday night to the game. The first 50 students through the door wearing white will receive a free t-shirt. There will be free admission for Georgia Southern University’s faculty and staff, who can use their school ID to get into the game. Family of faculty and staff can purchase tickets for just $4.

Eric Ferguson scored 22 points for the Eagles with 17 coming in the second half as the Eagles rallied late against College of Charleston. Ferguson is averaging 14.6 points per game this season to lead GSU in scoring. C.J. Reed dropped 16 points on Saturday to become the 501st player in Division I history to reach 2,000 career points.

Freshman Cleon Roberts has had a breakout season with 8.7 ppg. He has made 43% of his opportunities from downtown and currently ranks second among GSU freshman for three-point shooting behind Ben Drayton’s 48.9% in 2008-09.

The Terriers are led by guard Karl Cochran who has 15.7 ppg to go with 4.3 rebounds per night. Freshman Spencer Collins has 12.5 ppg for Wofford while 6-6 forward Lee Skinner has 10.0 ppg. Wofford snapped a two-game skid on Saturday with a 78-58 win over Chattanooga, but has lost eight-straight on the road including six in the Southern Conference.

On Saturday night Georgia Southern will honor seniors Cameron Baskerville and C.J. Reed in a pregame ceremony. It will also be a “Blue Out” inside Hanner Fieldhouse with all fans encouraged to wear blue.
