Little Eagles Baseball Camp a Success

STATESBORO, Ga. – More than 130 kids attended the inaugural Little Eagles Baseball Camp, held Saturday morning at J.I. Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University.

The 2008 Eagles squad worked six different stations, ranging from: hitting in the cages, pitching with reads off the radar gun, hitting on the field and running the bases, playing wiffleball, catching flyballs and fielding grounders.

Following the Camp, all participants received a bag of Georgia Southern items, in addition to posters and schedule cards. The players, including current professional pitchers Dennis Dove and Dustin Evans (former Eagle standouts), signed autographs for the more than 530 in attendance.

“We had an incredible turnout today for our Little Eagles Camp. The weather was fantastic, I know that certainly helped with the great attendance,” said head coach Rodney Hennon. “With this being the first time holding the event, we weren’t quite sure what kind of attendance we would have. Our players did a great job working the different stations, and you could tell the kids had a great time, which is what it is all about. I want to thank everyone involved in making this such a success. Going into the Camp we wanted to make this an annual event. After seeing the attendance we will certainly do just that.”
