Players Returning
The Texas State Bobcats look to rebound from a 2-10 season a year ago. The Bobcats return their leading rusher from a season ago, as well as their second-leading receiver. Tyler Watts finished the 2017 season with 40 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Anthony D. Taylor recorded the second-most carries with 108, but finished the season with 468 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Damian Williams graduated following his 194 completions and 2,061 yards in 2017. Willie Jones III, who appeared in 10 games for the Bobcats last season, will look to take the reins under center. On the defensive side of the ball the Bobcats return three of their top four leading tacklers from last season. Bryan London II lead the Bobcats with 91 total tackles and recorded five pass breakups, while Frankie Griffin and A.J. Krawczyk racked up 74 total tackles. Griffin also added 4.0 sacks to his totals, as well as three pass breakups, a quarterback hurry and two fumble recoveries.

Georgia Southern leads the series over Texas Southern 2-1. The last encounter between the two schools was on October 29, 2015, where Georgia Southern beat Texas Southern 37-13 at Paulson Stadium.
