Players Returning
SC State returns eight starters on offense and six on defense, along with a few new additions to the coaching staff in new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. The Bulldogs will have some gaps to fill with the departure of linebacker Darius Leonard, a second-round NFL Draft pick last week, and linebacker Dayshawn Taylor, defensive back Jason Baxter, offensive lineman Justin Evans and kicker Tyler Scandrett. The Bulldogs will have strength in the returning defensive linemen Paul McKeiver, Shaquille Crouch, Roderick Perry and Tyrell Goodwin. Chad Gilchrest and Cornelius Walker will lead the linebackers, which are expected to fill the void with the departure of Leonard and Taylor. All-MEAC offensive lineman Robbie Stephenson will be the top returnee and will be surrounded around some young talent in Malik Mickle, Jalen Page and Patrick McNeil.

Georgia Southern currently leads the series 7-0 over the SCSU Bulldogs. The last meeting the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs 41-16 in Paulson stadium on Nov. 27, 2010.
