CHARLESTON, S.C. - Georgia Southern Rifle closed out the 2017-18 season this weekend with an outstanding performance at the 2018 Southern Conference Rifle Championships. Rosemary Kramer, Courtney Weekley and Lydia Odlin scored All-SoCon honors as the Eagles upped their game for the final day and set the table for the 2018-19 campaign.

Rosemary Kramer scored First Team All-SoCon honors and the Air Rifle Athlete of the Year award by placing second in the medal round. Kramer moved up to third place as the field was cut to three shooters by just four tenths of a point, and erased a 1.2 point gulf to second place in the two shots of the eighth round to secure second place by a tenth of a point. The junior entered the SoCon Championships ranked No. 2 in air rifle average score at 582.8 behind Kimberlee Nettles from North Georgia who placed eighth in the finals.

Courtney Weekley led the league with a 590 in the preliminary round which included a pair of perfect 100 series. She reached the final, but was cut after the fifth series to place fifth and earn Second Team All-SoCon Honors. The junior led the team with an 11th place finish in small bore on Saturday with a 556.

Lydia Odlin earned Second Team All-SoCon honors with a ninth place finish in air rifle, tying Dakota Spivey for eighth place and the final spot in the final. Spivey, however, advanced on the center ten tiebreaker.

"The Southern Conference Championships were a huge validation of the hard work the team has been doing. When it came to performing well under pressure, and over an extended period of time, they did fantastic. The physical and mental exercises they did all year helped them push through the tough parts of the competition. While some came home with medals, plaques and honors, they all were champions together. Each supported and encouraged the other to fantastic outcomes. We plotted out our next year in the van on the way home, and decided today did not mark the end of our season, but rather, was the kick off to our next year. We look forward to applying everything we learned in the coming season."
