Georgia Southern hosts the 39th annual Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club this week. The Eagles and participating teams and coaches will host a Youth Clinic from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday. The practice round is set for Thursday and the first round starts Friday.

The Eagles placed second in the tournament last year and have finished in the top-6 in four of the last five seasons. This year's field features 13 teams ranked in the top-100, including No. 3 Vanderbilt and No. 5 Florida. Eight individuals are ranked in the top-100, including Eagle junior Steven Fisk, who is ranked eighth.

"There are so many options out there for these coaches so it says a lot about the community that supports the Schenkel and the course that they continue to choose to come to our tournament every year," said Georgia Southern coach Carter Collins. "The Schenkel is just different. It has more spectators than a majority of the events in college golf, and it has an Augusta National and Masters type feel. I think the key is our Southern hospitality. We take what we do well and try to emphasize it."

The Eagles are coming off a second-place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate March 6. GS shot the lowest round of the day, a 286, in the final round to charge five spots up the leaderboard. Jake Storey shot 69 in the last round to tie for first, the fifth top-5 in his career. Archer Price tied for third for his second top-5 this season and third of his career.

Fisk has finished in the top-10 in five of six events this season, including two wins and has been named to the Haskins Award Watch List and the Ben Hogan Award Watch List. His is currently ranked sixth in the latest Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking and will find out if he has been selected for the event Wednesday. Fisk became the 13th player in college golf history to shoot 60, reaching the mark in the second round of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational in October, and he narrowly missed a 16-footer for birdie on his final hole for 59. His 60 was a school and course record, and he followed that round with a 67 to tie for third.

Georgia Southern has finished in the top-6 in nine of its last 12 tournaments, dating back to last season.

Fisk, Price, Storey and Barron have been in the lineup for the last 17 tournaments, dating back to the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

Price makes his 38th career start this week, Fisk will make his 30th career start and Jake Storey is in the lineup for the 34th time. Barron plays in his 19th tournament and has played in every event in his young career. Junior Crawford Simmons makes his second career start for the Eagles.

Following the Schenkel, Georgia Southern travels to The Hootie at Bulls Bay March 25-27.
