STATESBORO, Ga. - The swimming and diving team is known for balancing both their competition schedule with the demands of the classroom by having a 3.0 or higher for the 2017 spring semester. The team earned the highest GPA in the program's history during fall 2018 with a 3.546.
The 2017-18 season in the pool has also been successful with wins against competitive programs. Even with the recent successes, there is still more to do!
As Georgia Southern's new swimming and diving head coach, Laura Thomas' goal elevate the distinction of Eagle Swimming and Diving to provide the best collegiate experience possible for the team. Thomas has her eyes set on various invitationals and an annual challenging training camp to further develop her student-athletes as well as tech suits for the team. To reach these goals, the swimming and diving program has launched a crowdfunding campaign to not only benefit the current swimming and diving team but future student-athletes for years to come.
The crowdfunding campaign will be active until Friday, March 16, 2018, giving swimming and diving only five weeks left to reach their goal of $25,750.
The deadline is right around the corner, and the team believes they can achieve it with the help of Georgia Southern University alumni and friends. Contributions to the campaign will directly benefit the Eagle Swimming and Diving program.
"We are excited about our crowdfunding campaign because it is a great way for family, friends, and alumni to become engaged with our program. The donations will allow us the opportunity to provide our athletes with what they need to move to the top of our conference and reach our goal of being a nationally recognized swimming and diving program," said Thomas.
