STATESBORO, Ga. – For the first time in program history, the men's tennis team will head west for a meeting with the Air Force Academy. The Eagles will compete in USAF Academy, Colorado for the weekend against Incarnate Word and Air Force. This will be the first meeting between the Air Force and Eagles, and the second meeting between Incarnate Word and Georgia Southern.
"We are looking to bounce back from a tough loss this week," Head Coach
Sander Koning said. "We had some good practices to get ready and I believe we are ready to compete. Both Air Force and Incarnate Word are good teams, we have to embrace the critical moments in the matches to be successful."
The Air Force Falcons kicked off their season Wednesday with two 6-1 victories over Colorado State-Puebla. The Falcons will continue the 2018 season with two matches on Friday against Northern Colorado and The Incarnate Word, before facing off against the Eagles Saturday at 6:00 p.m. EST.
Incarnate Word will open their 2018 season with three matches in Colorado. The Cardinals will face off against Air Force Friday, Northern Colorado Saturday, and Georgia Southern Sunday to conclude the first weekend of action. The Eagles and Cardinals will face off at 11:00 a.m. EST on Sunday.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between the Air Force and Georgia Southern.
The Eagles currently lead the series against Incarnate Word, with the Eagles winning the only meeting 4-1.
