STATESBORO – Georgia Southern's home men's basketball contest against Georgia State in Hanner Fieldhouse will air live on ESPN2 Friday, Feb. 16, at 9 p.m. ET.
In addition, the Eagles' matchup at Troy Dec. 29 is a possibility for an ESPN wildcard game. The network will select a game to air on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET at minimum 22 days prior to Dec. 29.
Games available for selection are:
• Georgia Southern at Troy
• Georgia State at South Alabama
• Louisiana at Little Rock
• Texas State at Appalachian State
• ULM at Arkansas State
• UTA at Coastal Carolina
Games to be aired on ESPN3 this season will be announced at a later date. Sun Belt Conference institutions aired 125 times on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app during the 2016-17 season, a 20 percent increase from the previous year.
The 2017-18 men's and women's basketball season will feature an 18-game conference slate with men's and women's basketball games played as doubleheaders. All 12 men's and women's basketball teams will travel to the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, March 6-11, in New Orleans at Lakefront Arena. It will be the fifth consecutive tournament held in New Orleans.
Georgia Southern men's basketball returns all five starters and eight student-athletes in the rotation, including first-team All-Sun Belt selections
Tookie Brown and
Ike Smith, to the 2017-18 roster. The Eagles went 18-15 overall and 11-7 in the Sun Belt and played in the postseason for the first time since 2006.
