Elevating the Distinction of Men’s & Women’s Tennis

The crowdfunding campaign will run until Friday, November 3, 2017

STATESBORO, Ga - Men's and women's tennis at Georgia Southern University have longstanding reputations.

They already excel on the court and in the classroom, but now is the time to elevate Eagle Tennis facilities, team awareness and recruiting efforts while building upon their experience and skillsets. In order to do so, the men's and women's tennis programs have launched a joint crowdfunding campaign to not only benefit the current Eagle Tennis teams but fans and future student-athletes for years to come.

The overall combined fundraising goal is $44,000. Contributions to Eagle Tennis will help fund shaded player's benches, canopies for the bleachers, branded items throughout the Wallis Tennis Center, lockers, recruitment efforts and training camps. The Eagle Tennis crowdfunding campaign is going on now and will end on Friday, November 3, 2017

"The men's tennis program is building to be a Sun Belt Conference and national powerhouse. The last two years we have made significant strides on the court and our players take great pride in playing for Georgia Southern," said Sander Koning, men's tennis head coach, "If we are able to upgrade our facilities, it will give the current players a sense of place, provide fans with a better  experience and well-being while on the court. Adding challenging tournaments and training camps will elevate players' abilities in order to succeed at the next level.  Ultimately, elevating Eagle Tennis will promote our University, give the programs more character and provide the tools necessary to compete."

Sean McCaffrey, women's tennis head coach agrees, "We all know how oppressively hot it can get both on the courts and watching from the bleachers. One of our goals is to install awnings and canopies over the on-court benches and bleachers in the Wallis Tennis Center. This project will not only improve the student-athlete and fan experience at the matches and training, but it will also enhance the aesthetic appearance of the tennis complex. Now that I have had the opportunity to coach for the last 18 years, I have come to realize that a program is only as good as those who stand behind them. In order to run a vibrant and dynamic tennis program, we need to make sure we have an equally strong and supportive group of boosters. The amount of how much one gives is not nearly as important as simply giving back."
