Emily Kuhfeld announced today that
Autumn Gabe (Marietta, Ga./Walton) has joined the Eagles' 2017-18 roster.
Gabe was a four-time all-county selection for Coach Richard Myrick at Walton High School and placed in the top-15 in the state tournament in 2014. She helped the Raiders to the 2015 Region title and a runner-up finish in the 2014 state championship. A three-time selection to the Atlanta Junior Golf All-Academic Team, she was nominated for the Atlanta Junior Sportsmanship Golfer of the Year Award in 2014, and the women's golf team captain award at Walton was renamed the
Autumn Gabe Award.
An accomplished junior golfer, Gabe was headed for a college golf scholarship before an injury in her senior season forced her to step away from the game, and she decided to attend Georgia Southern as a student.
"The more I got to know Autumn, the more I thought she would be a great fit here in terms of her leadership ability and fitting in well in regard to personality with the team," said Kuhfeld. "I see her being able to help the team in a variety of ways and see her golf game growing and growing during her time here. Having Autumn join the program has really been a blessing for us."
The Eagles open the season at the K-State Marilynn Smith Invitational Sept. 17.
