STATESBORO - The 2017 Georgia Southern men's soccer season is officially underway after head coach John Murphy's squad completed its first day of preseason practice on Monday.
The defending Sun Belt Conference regular season champions welcomed back 14 returnees from last season's squad, while adding a talented group of 16 newcomers to the mix for 2017. Monday morning began with workouts on the Georgia Southern campus, then moved down I-16 to the campus of Armstrong State University for a night session.
"It was nice to get back on the pitch this morning with the entire team," Coach Murphy said. "Everyone was in good spirits and put a strong shift in with the combination of testing, work in the weight room and a full team practice."
The Eagles will remain in Savannah until Thursday, alternating workouts at Tybee Island and the Armstrong Soccer Field, before returning to Statesboro to prepare for Friday's scrimmage against Presbyterian College.
"We're fortunate to be the first Georgia Southern team to utilise the excellent Armstrong campus facilities for the next four days as we begin a mini-camp off campus," Coach Murphy said. "Our time will be spent focusing on the 2017 season, while also doing some team building on Tybee Island beach and downtown Savannah."

SEASON TICKETS
Season tickets for Georgia Southern men's soccer are currently underway. One $50 season ticket covers all home matches for both men's and women's soccer. Eagle Soccer season ticket holders will also receive a special 2017 GATA FC soccer scarf with each season ticket purchase.
