STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern volleyball coach
Dustin Wood announced today that Kyle Gramit has joined his staff as an assistant coach.
Gramit joins the Eagles after serving as an assistant coach for the Limestone men's and women's programs for the last two seasons. He helped the Limestone women to a 19-7 overall record and a 12-6 mark in Conference Carolinas in 2015, and the Saints advanced to the tournament championship match. The Limestone men posted an overall record of 13-11 in 2017 and a 12-6 mark in league play.
Gramit joined the Limestone staff in 2015 after a successful six-year playing career overseas. His list of accomplishments include winning the league championship with Sarkat Volley in 2014 when he was the third leading scorer, winning three major Swedish championships with Falkenberg in 2010-11 and finishing in the top-five in scoring in his league in four seasons. Most recently, the 6-foot-5 Gramit played for Tierp Volley in the Swedish league Elitserien herrar. He was team co-captain and named the top attacker and point scorer in the league at the conclusion of the season while also earning several "Man of the Match" awards throughout the year.
"We are excited to have Kyle join our program," said Wood. "He has a wealth of experience as a player and a coach to help our program reach new heights. I know his experiences as a high-level player in college and professionally will help our players make some big improvements in their games. He has valuable experience in the past five years that can help our team understand what it takes to be an elite athlete on and off the court. He has already gained the respect and trust of our program, he is ready to hit the ground running and the players are very eager to learn from him. He is extremely positive and a good role model for our kids to look up to, and he will do great things here."
A 2009 graduate of George Mason University, Gramit ranks in the top-four in blocks, kills, digs and service aces in the Patriot school record books. He was a three-time Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association all-conference outside and right-side hitter, a second-team All-America choice as a junior and selected for the USA Youth National Team that competed in Brazil in 2005.
Gramit has also been involved with the Sports Performance Volleyball Club since 2006. He has worked with kids ages 12-18 at a variety of levels during his tenure there, including head coach of two teams which competed in national tournaments and several assistant coaching positions. Â
