Players Returning
The Ragin' Cajuns are looking to make a bowl appearance for consecutive years in 2017. Junior quarterback Jordan Davis will take control of the offense this season after playing in eight games last season. Davis completed 2 of 3 passing for only 7 yards last season. He will have some people to play catch with as Matt Barnes returns for his senior season. The tight end from Groesbeck, Texas, racked up 31 catches for 418 yards and six TDs in 2016. Barnes was second on the team in receiving yards and first in touchdowns. Senior running back Darius Hoggins will look to take over the backfield after producing 51 carries for 289 yards and one TD last season. The Ragin' Cajun offense graduates their two leading rushers in Elijah McGuire and quarterback Anthony Jennings. The Cajuns defense takes a bit of a hit upfront, losing their two leading tacklers in Tre'maine Lightfoot and Otha Peters. Senior Travis Crawford, returns to the secondary after leading all defensive backs in tackles last season with 71. Opposite of Crawford will be fellow senior Tracy Walker, who lead the team in interceptions in 2016.
