The senior will be without running back Marcus Cox, leaving junior Jalin Moore to the starting role. Moore finished the 2016 season with 237 carries for 1,402 and 10 TDs, surpassing Cox who did not play during four games last season. The Mountaineer offense returns leading receiver Shaedon Meadors, who caught 45 passes for 716 yards and two TDs. He will be accompanied by Ike Lewis who caught 18 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown last year. The Mountaineer defense loses all of its defensive tackles except for Okon Godwin, who accounted for only two tackles and 1.5 sacks last season. The linebacking corps and secondary are a different story with corner Clifton Duck returning and leading the way. Duck accounted for 57 tackles and five interceptions, with one being for a touchdown.
