The Georgia State Panthers are looking to bounce back from a 3-9 season in 2016. The Panthers are under new leadership with the arrival of Shawn Elliott and a new stadium, set to be completed before the Aug. 31 game against Tennessee State. Quarterback Connor Manning will have the reigns under center once again this season. Manning, who played in 10 games last season, finished the year off 207 for 373 for 2,684 yards and 16 TDs. He also threw 13 interceptions, while averaging just over 260 yards per game. Wide receiver Penny Hart will return to the offense after missing almost all of last season due to injuries. Jawan Nobles returns at tight end, as well as Ari Werts, who finished the season with 21 catches for 329 yards and three TDs. The offensive line returns four of the five starters from last season. On the opposite side of the ball, the Panthers return four of their top six defensive linemen. The strong passing defense will be strong once again with the secondary returning six of their top seven players.
