STATESBORO, Ga.— Although the 2016-17 athletic year has come to a close, things haven't slowed down much for Athletic Director
Tom Kleinlein, as the department continues to make exciting announcements. In the latest "Ask TK", Kleinlein addresses the latest in Eagle Nation alongside Voice of the Eagles
Danny Reed.
During this episode, Kleinlein touches on a variety of topics, including the Eagles' run in the Sun Belt Baseball Championships where they dropped a close one to South Alabama in extra innings, and the decision process of the tournament layout due to the weather delays.
With his contract extended, Kleinlein talks about his continued vision for Georgia Southern Athletics. Part of striving toward that vision was hiring some new faces, including three from Armstrong State who bring with them a wealth of experience and talent. Serving as the Deputy Athletic Director will be Lisa Sweany, who earned national recognition with her work at Armstrong.
Kim Dean was named the new softball head coach and
Sean McCaffrey was named as the women's tennis head coach.
In efforts to incorporate more of the Savannah market, TK discusses some ideas to engage Georgia Southern fans in the area starting with the football team holding an open practice there.
