ATLANTA - Junior
Steven Fisk and senior
Archer Price made the cut at the 51st Dogwood Invitational at the Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta.
Fisk added a 5-under 67 on Thursday and stands at 9-under 135 and tied for eighth. He is four shots behind leader Dawson Armstrong of Lipscomb University, who is 13-under after rounds of 66-65.
Fisk said, "I've done a really good job of putting the ball in the right places. I've had good angles into the green and I've holed a putt here and there."
He has been especially strong on the par 5s. He is 9-under on those eight holes, including two eagles. On Thursday he hit a 5-iron to within six feet of the hole at No. 7 and made eagle. On Wednesday, he holed out from 70 yards to make an eagle at No. 14.
"There's still a lot of golf left," Fisk said. "I'm right there. So far I haven't done anything to shoot myself in the foot."
Price shot a 69 to go with his opening-round 71 and is tied for 28th at 4-under.
Sophomore
Brett Barron shot a 70 to stand at 2-under, but missed the cut by one shot. Also missing the cut were incoming freshman Jacob Bayer (5-over) and senior
Jake Storey (8-over).
The threat of bad weather on Friday has caused tournament officials to begin competition at 7:30 a.m. Players will be grouped in threesomes and will start on the first and 10th tees.
