Dear Eagle Nation,
I am writing today from Phoenix as I have taken some time between Coaches Caravan events to attend an annual meeting of Athletic Directors across the country. It is interesting to hear some of the challenges other athletic directors face at their institutions and how they are dealing with those challenges. This meeting is another reminder of the importance to keep moving forward and growing our fan base and donors throughout our journey.
Coaches Caravans
So far our Caravans have been in Charleston, Effingham, St. Simon's, Dublin, Jacksonville, Augusta, Tifton and Columbus and it's has been great visiting with Eagle Nation. It has been good to see the interest in some new areas of our region and I look forward to growing those areas in the future. One of the common themes we have emphasized is our need for growth at the new donor level. We have introduced a new level of giving for our fan base the TrueBlue 120. This donation will go directly to the scholarship fund to reduce the cost of scholarships. Our first promise is to provide an education to our student-athletes that cost has an annual cost of $4.8 million. If we can eliminate or reduce this cost we then can redirect funds to help enhance the operating costs of team budgets. If 50 percent of all alums took action and joined this program that would eliminate our scholarship costs. If you are a donor already, thank you … we need your help to continue to recruit other Eagles who are not to get them involved at the TrueBlue 120 level.
The Sun Belt Baseball Tournament
Starting on May 23, we will be hosting the conference baseball tournament. This event has a huge economic impact on the community of Statesboro and the surrounding counties and is a chance to show off our university to the rest of the conference and the country through the power of ESPN. We need your support to be successful. Our stadium needs to be sold out for our games. Tickets are on sale now in the ticket office online at GSEagles.com/tickets. In addition to the baseball games, there will be family activities and entertainment between games so come make a day of it and show the rest of the Sun Belt how we support college athletics. I am looking forward to seeing you at the J.I. Clements or during one of our remaining Caravan events.
Thanks for your support.
