STATESBORO, Ga. -
After a night of torrential rain and storms in the Statesboro area, the Georgia Southern football team had to alter its routine and practice at Paulson Stadium Thursday morning under chilly and breezy conditions.

Following practice, GSEagles.com had a chance to catch up with junior safety R.J. Murray, who is looking to rebound from a knee injury that ended his 2016 season prematurely.

Q: Coming off of a knee injury, how does it feel to be back on the field and healthy?
A:
It feels good. I'm just taking it one day at a time, trusting in [athletic trainer] Brandy [Clouse] and trusting the coaches. I have been just trying to get the reps that I need and it feels good to be back with the team.

Q: How has it been having your brother Malik on the team with you?
A:
It's fun; we joke around with each other. He makes a play and we talk about it in the locker room. If I make a play on him, I let him know that I'm still the big brother.

Q: What has been the biggest thing you've been working on this offseason?
A:
Right now I'm just focusing on getting my knee strength up to 100 percent so that I can help the team be at full force this season.

Q: What's the one part of your game that you take pride in?
A:
I think I take pride in my eyes, just being able to see things and reacting and letting things come to me naturally. Also I feel I take the coaching in well and implement that into my game.

Q: What is the funniest thing that has happened this spring?
A:
It has to be Joshua Moon and Sean Freeman wearing those neck rolls. They look like juggernauts out there running around with the guys.
