USC enters this midweek matchup with an overall record of 22-14. The Gamecocks are currently 1-2 in their most recent home stand, with a win against Furman and two losses to Texas A&M. Gamecocks stand 86th in NCAA Division I in batting average and 56th in slugging percentage. They have faced a few tough opponents throughout March, struggling against No. 3 Florida, No. 11 Alabama, and No. 6 Texas A&M. However, the Gamecocks look at the Eagles as a familiar foe as USC currently owns a 41-1 all-time record over Georgia Southern.
Krystan White leads the Gamecocks' offense in RBIs (32) and batting average (.347) while ranking second in hits (35). White went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI against Gardner-Webb, and helped South Carolina to their first win at Alabama since 2004 by driving in two runs to give the Gamecocks an early 6-0 lead. Senior first baseman Kaylea Snaer is ranked second on the team in batting average (.337) and home runs (5). Snaer has also driven in 15 RBIs and owns a .587 slugging percentage. In the Gamecock's 14-0 win against Alabama, Snaer walked three times, scored twice and went 1-for-2.
In the circle for USC Senior Jessica Elliott (9-6) has earned a 3.07 ERA over 13 starts and 23 appearances. In the Gamecock's 8-0 win against Furman last week Elliott struck out the first five batters of the game, totaling a career-best nine strikeouts by the end of the night. She only walked three in the one-hit bid, marking her third time to hold an opponent to one hit or less this season. Also on the pitching staff is senior Nicki Blue (8-6), who recently won the SEC Pitcher of the Week award after tossing a two-hitter against the Crimson Tide. Blue struck out four, did not walk a batter and only needed 93 pitches to complete the two-hit shutout. It was the just the third time this year that Alabama had been held to two hits or less.
The Eagles are coming off of a series sweep to No. 17 Louisiana last weekend. GS sits at 15-19 overall, 5-7 in conference play after dropping their last four games to all ranked opponents. Senior
Emily Snider is leading the offense with a .377 batting average, 22 RBIs and seven home runs.
Lydia Witkowski is second on the team with a .294 average, and right behind her is freshman
Mekhia Freeman with a .287 average.
Dixie Raley is 9-13 in the circle throughout 111.2 innings of work with a 3.32 ERA, and
Kierra Camp is 5-6 with a 4.89 ERA in 81.2 innings.
