STATESBORO, Ga. – Saturday afternoon, the Georgia Southern Track and Field team concluded events at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The Eagles capped off the weekend collecting a bundle of top-10 and top-25 finishes in Atlanta. This was the final preparation for the Eagles, before heading to Arlington, Texas in two weeks, for the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships.
 
Breanna Thornton crept her way into the top-25 for the Sun Belt conference in the 400 meter event this weekend. She was not the only Eagle that jumped into the Sun Belt standings this past weekend. Bailey Willett continues to sit in third place in the 800 meter events, but teammates Ellunde Montgomery (14^th) and Jillian Sloane (15^th), finished one tenth of a second apart in Atlanta boosting them into the standings. Montgomery also moved her way into 11^th in the 1500 meter event, after her performance at the Georgia Tech Invitational.  
 
Jamelia Owens, moved herself into seventh place in the conference, posting a 44.35m toss on the Discus in Atlanta. Alexis Gant joined the top-10 placing spree, when she took eighth in the Discus event. Kelsey Arnold placed seventh in the Invitational during the Hammer Throw, while teammate Diamond Reese finishing 16^th.
 
Next up for the Eagles, the ladies will have two weeks off to prepare for the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships. The Blue and White will head to Arlington, Texas to compete in the two day event hosted by UT-Arlington.
