QUICK HITS
- Georgia Southern puts their Sun Belt best record of 24-13 on the line this weekend with a three game series at Coastal Carolina.
- Georgia Southern needed 11 innings to take a 6-5 win over Savannah State on Wednesday night. The Eagle lineup was bookended by three hit performances by Steven Curry in the leadoff spot and Logan Baldwin in the No. 9 hole. Seth Shuman pitched five innings and was in line for the win before the Eagle bullpen squandered a four-run lead.
- Georgia Southern leads the all-time series with Coastal Carolina 13-11, but has dropped six-straight games to the Chanticleers. The teams haven't played since March 11, 2007 when the Eagles dropped a 6-2 loss in Conway. The last win came on 4/2/97.
- The Georgia Southern offense in 2017 has been buoyed by the bats of three freshman who have announced their presence with authority.  Steven Curry leads the team with a .338 average from the leadoff spot in the order. Mitchell Golden is hitting .331 between shortstop and third base. Mason McWhorter is hitting .328 in 33 starts with eight doubles, and two home runs.
- Georgia Southern's strong play in 2017 has been assisted by solid work out of the bullpen. The Eagle bullpen is 14-1 on the season with a 7-for-8 conversion rate on saves.  The bullpen has a 4-0 record in April with three saves. On the road, the bullpen is 6-0 with a 3.29 ERA. Full stats on the bullpen are available on page eight of the notes.
- In 2017 Georgia Southern has done well to hold on to their leads. The Eagles are 17-0 when leading after six innings, 18-0 when leading after seven and 20-0 when leading after eight. The Eagle bullpen has blown just one save this year, but came back to take the win in the 11th over Savannah State.
- For the third straight season, Georgia Southern Baseball has partnered with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to help fight childhood cancer. The Eagles raised more than $8,000 this season, culminating with members of the team shaving their heads on April 15th. Fans can still contribute by visiting https://team.vs-cancer.org/gs2017.
- The 2017 Sun Belt Tournament is coming to Statesboro starting on May 23, 2017. The new format features two play in games that pit the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds and the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for the final spots in the field of eight.

After this weekend's series, Georgia Southern has a midweek double scheduled against Mercer. The Eagles visit the Bears' new stadium in Macon on Tuesday before hosting Mercer on Wednesday night in Statesboro.
