STATESBORO, Ga. – On Tuesday morning the Sun Belt Conference announced the 2017 Sun Belt Tennis Championship bracket, with full seeding and times. All tournament matches will be hosted by the City Park and the Pepsi Tennis Center, located in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Â
The Blue and White drew a sixth seed and will face off against the three seed UT-Arlington. The Eagles are looking for revenge, as the defending Sun Belt Champion Mavericks, defeated the Blue and White in a heartbreaker back in March, 4-3. Friday's match will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST and will broadcasted on the radio and through live stats.
Â
"We are going into the tournament with three wins under our belt," Head coach
Sander Koning said. "The entire week the guys have been locked in and ready to get the tournament started. If we compete the way we have been the last couple of matches we give ourselves a good chance to win."
Â
The Blue and White are coming off of a historic win at the Wallis Tennis Center, where they defeated Sun Belt Conference newcomer Coastal Carolina 4-0, completing the perfect 12-0 season at home. Senior
Dani Casablancas clinched the match for the Eagles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over his opponent. This was the first time in 34 years that a Georgia Southern men's tennis team had posted a perfect record at home. The Eagles finished the season on a three match winning streak defeating two Sun Belt opponents, on route to an 18-11 record.
Â
UTA enters play with a 14-8 record, dropping their final match to Texas Tech 4-0. The Mavericks have faced four ranked opponents, as listed by ITA, SMU (29
th), Baylor (11
th), Columbia (24
th), and Texas (6

Stefano Di Aloy,
Dani Casablancas and
Diego Finkelstein. Senior Daniel Armengol gave UTA the victory defeating
Santiago Suarez 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-1 in three sets.
