Eagles Conclude Florida Relays

Track and Field collects multiple Top-25 and Top-50 finishes in Gainesville
STATESBORO, Ga. – This past weekend the Georgia Southern Track and Field team hit the track in Gainesville, Florida to compete in the Florida Relays, hosted by the University of Florida. Nearly 80 teams competed in the events, with 10 women's teams being ranked in the top 25.
The blue and white collected two top-25 finishes, as well as two top-50 finishes in the final day. Bailey Willett collected a top-25 finish during the 800 meter event, while Ashton Lord collected a top-50 finish in the 5000 meter event. Desiree Blunt took home a top-50 performance in the 200 meter open and currently sits in 12th place in the conference. Willett continues to sit in second place in the 800 meter event in the Sun Belt Conference, while Lord holds steady at 10th.
During the field events, Jamelia Owens nearly missed a top-15 finish by less than .01 meters in the Shot Put event. Owens continues to sit in eighth place in the Shot Put event for the conference, while also sitting eighth in the Discus as well.
Next up the Eagles will have the week off before heading back to Florida for the North Florida Invite. Jacksonville has been a friendly place for the blue and white this season, posting multiple top-5 and top-10 finishes last time they ran at UNF. The Eagles will look to continue that success next Friday at the meet.
