HOFFENHEIM, GERMANY - Georgia Southern wrapped up its 2017 German Tour with a 5-1 win over Bammental FC. With the win, Georgia Southern improves to 2-1 on the trip as the team returns stateside to close out the spring semester.
Bammental took an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute, scoring off a corner kick. The in-swinging delivery found the head of an attacker who got free from his marker to score the opening goal.
The line didn't stay there for long as Georgia Southern took the ball straight down the field and equalized with some nice combination play. In the 31st minute, Georgia Southern made it 2-1 as
Blake Wilson earned a penalty which
Emil Laursen converted from 12 yards.
Bammental pressed early in the second half, leaving them open at the back as the Eagles would score three goals in the final 45 minutes of play. Sebastian Gregersen scored the third goal of the night off a direct free kick.
Jeremy Rector got the Eagles' fourth goal by picking a pass off the Bammental defenders and scoring 1v1 wih the keeper. The final goal came in the 85th minute as
Thompson Race got on the end of a long ball, touching it around the keeper and slotting it home for an empty net goal.
The Eagles close out the spring semester with two more matches. Georgia Southern visits Mercer on March 25th and hosts Anderson University on April 8th.
