MANHEIM, GERMANY - Georgia Southern Men's Soccer continued its tour of Germany on Monday night, taking a 5-2 win over SV Waldhof Mannheim U23 in the first of three matches in Germany. The Eagles play Hoffenheim U23 on Tuesday morning and close the trip with a match against Bammental FC on Friday.
Blake Wilson opened the scoring in the 12th minute, getting on the end of a Sebastian Gregersen cross, heading the ball home. He notched his second goal in the 23rd minute to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Adam Abdellaoui struck twice in two minutes, pushing the lead to 4-0 with his goals in the 41st and 42nd minutes.
After the halftime break, Georgia Southern caught Mannheim pushing too many men forward, allowing Trei Elis Schwartz to get free on goal to score low at the far post past the keeper to make the line 5-0.
The game settled in at 5-0 and Mannheim was able to push forward, building an attack which resulted in a penalty kick. The home side converted to make it 5-1 and added another late goal, putting away a fortunate loose ball in the box to make the final score 5-2.
