Women’s Golf Sits in Third at Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Georgia Southern women's golf team followed a solid 302 in the first round with a second-round total of 299, and the Eagles moved up to third after two rounds of the Spring Break Shootout Monday at Lake Jovita Golf Club.
Georgia Southern (+25) is a stroke ahead of FGCU (+26) in fourth and two clear of Samford (+27) in fifth. Southern Miss. (+14) and Boston College are tied for the lead.
Yeji Shin (77-71=148, +4) and Lauren Coe (72-76=148, +4) are tied for ninth. Iben Hvass (74-78=152, +8) is 22nd, and Ansley Bowman (79-74=153, +9) is tied for 23rd.
Ariana Macioce shot 79-81=160, and individual Taylor Thompson carded an 82-85=167. The Eagles' second-round team total was tied for the fifth-lowest of the day, and Georgia Southern ranks second in pars with 111.

Shin had just two blemishes on her card in the afternoon. After a bogey on her first hole, the sophomore made par or better on all but one of the next 17, posting birdies on holes 9, 14 and 18 and finishing the day with four straight pars.
Bowman shook off a tough morning round with a 74 in the afternoon and scored par or better on 12 straight holes with three birdies. Coe played her first 13 holes 1-over and finished the day with a pair of pars.

Coe posted four straight pars to start her day and played her final 12 holes 3-under with birdies on holes 13, 17 and 2. Hvass finished her first 18 with three straight pars and posted par or better on 12 straight holes in the middle of the round with a birdie on hole 13.
