STATESBORO, Ga. – For the final time, before the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, the Georgia Southern Track and Field team will compete in the Samford Invite & Multi in Birmingham, Alabama. Field events will begin at 9:00 a.m., while track events will begin around 11:00 a.m. The Eagles are looking to continue the success they had two weeks ago at the JDL-Fast Track where they collected six top-ten conference finishes.

"We are excited about heading to Birmingham this weekend," head coach Kelly Carter said. "Birmingham Crossplex will host the 2017 Sun Belt Indoor Championships and this will be an opportunity for us to get a feel for that track. I know that our young ladies will continue on the path that they have created for themselves this year and perform well."

LAST TIME OUT

Last time the Track and Field team took to the Track they were headed to Winston-Salem to compete in the UNCG Dual Meet Madness at the JDL-Fast Track. The Eagles would claim six top-ten conference finishes, as well as having a school record broken and bested in the 3000m by four athletes. Ellunde Montgomery broke the schools 3000m record and finished first at the event. Rebecca Parker took second and her teammate Ashton Lord finished fourth. All three of these runners had times faster than the previous best school record. Montgomery finished the race with a time of 10:25.10 which was good enough to place seventh in the conference. Parker posted a 10:26.61 finishing second in the race and ninth in the Sun Belt Conference.
